In my opinion, the WII Fit is a perfect substitute for people who don't have the time or resources to make it to the gym on a regular basis. While not exactly a fitness routine, it is good to see him up off the couch now and then. My 8-year-old son enjoys the balance games too. I'm not into most of them at all I prefer running outdoors unless temperatures fall below 10 degrees F. The only glaring weakness I've found are the aerobic activities. I look forward to possibly other titles developed for Wii Fit. I do like the feedback from the personal trainers but often think Nintendo could have made more effort to put some variety into their comments or a least limit repetition. More user-configurable options wit hin the individual workouts would've helped. Why is Wii Fit not Excellent? I wish each user could "build" workout routines, rather than having to constantly use the menus to select each and every exercise. I enthusiastically recommend Wii Fit! There really is nothing else like it available for training at home. I have found the goal-setting, fitness testing and weight tracking pretty motivating stuff. Several times per week I do 45 minutes of those exercises followed by a couple of balance games for fun. The on-screen feedback is amazing and extremely helpful for personal improvement. The balance-oriented yoga and strength exercises are outstanding, thanks to the unique controller. I bought Wii Fit to spice up my winter workouts in lieu of a $250 gym membership. Great training at home-a welcome change of pace. Overstock had a great price on the sleeve, or Im sure you could fin it here on eBay somewhere. My advice is to also pick up a silcone sleeve and a yoga mat.

Being able to work out in the privacy of you own home with minimal equipment is a great v alue. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a well balanced workout routine or those who do not want to subscribe to a local gym. You can easily cheat your way to a high score in many of the mini games, but then you end up cheating yourself. Like anything else, you will only get what you put into the system. The concept is a good one, by deploying a leveling system to exercise you are self motivated to "move up", add the competitive nature of wanting to out do your spouse or friends and you get a truly excellent work out. We had seen it at a friends house and were looking for something to motivate us to get off our butts. Originally, we had purchased the WII just to get WII Fit. Only negative, many screens to get into the exercises slows down a circuit training feel, but only inconvenience and you can just job in place to keep momentum going. But, the great thing is t he Wii offers humor and LOTS of encouraging comments. Can be sobering so if you haven't been active for a while, get ready for honesty. Also, the Wii is a VERY impartial weight scale and actual age gauge.

Selecting some balance exercises first, then moving into the aerobic, back to a balance exercise, then to some strength, and closing with some yoga poses for stretching makes for a full body workout while having fun. We've only been using it for a week, but plan on using this as a tool for helping us all get ready for ski season. It was worth the wait of finding one! It offers a great variety of ways to exercise while having fun. I didn't have the chance to try it and was really excited about getting one for our family.
